last night we ate at long john silver's and the staff had those hokey looking cardboard pirate hats on. i asked them if they knew it was international take like a pirate day and they said yes, which was the reason for the hats. one of them asked if i wanted one, they were free. i said no thanks. i said you gotta wear them, i don't and they laughed in agreement.

Yes, it was just "Talk like a Pirate day", not dress like one. We had at least one person at work also confused on this issue. Arrrr!
