I agree with Matt that the cassette toilet would be a good alternative to the recirculating toilet. I've seen them in other popups and in Northstar truck campers. They are sort of a compromise between a standard toilet and a porta pottie in that they flush with fresh water but have a waste tank which is accessed through an outside access door so that you can remove the tank for evacuation of the contents in a campground facility.

That being said, we have not experienced the odor problems some TM owners have complained of and the maintenence on the unit has not been a bother. We get about 8 "user days" out of the unit and as we both work, that has been adequate for the long weekends we favor. I guess we might buy a blue tote when we retire and can take longer trips. Our biggest gripe is the need to set it back up at the dump station if we want to rinse the unit when leaving campgrounds where we had no sewer connections. I wouldn't let the presence of the recirculating toilet dissude me from buying a TM. - camp2canoe

P.S. -we are in Central Illinois and would be happy to demonstrate the TM. A local attorney just purchased a used TM after setting up and taking down ours.

I have a 2008 3023 and have camped many times with it. I love most everything about it. I share the same thoughts about the toilet as others, but there are many more pros that make up for it. Regrettably I am selling my 3023 to upgrade to a larger trailer. Trailmanor really hit the mark with the trailers, especially the low profile with hard-sided security. I had two pop-ups prior and this is a huge improvement over canvas sides. The 3023 is large, but I am still able to set it up myself.
