The fact that it is so hard to find would make me feel a little uncomfortable.

Sorry....I missed that.......

OK.......Here's what we know (we think)......

5000# tow rating - 4000#~ trailer = 1000# for passengers, cargo and fuel as long as it does not exceed GCWR (if you can figure that out).

From everything that I can see, the dry weight on your Highlander is about 4000#. If you have 1000# in passengers and cargo and ~4000# in trailer, you will need a GCWR of over 9000#.

Pack it like you do for camping and weigh it. At least you will know what you're dealing with. Otherwise.....you're guessing.........sorta like your GCWR.......

Default hylander

I found my weight total number in the trailer towing section NOT the specification or load sections and it is in a yellow box. For a 2007 Hylander, gross combination weight(sum of your vehicle weight plus its load and the total trailer weight must not exceed for a 3.3 L V6 engine with tow package 8860 pounds). Yours is probably more. NO astericks found in the yellow box. I even had my kids look too. Robert

You're right. Not sure where I got off the track.

By going to http://www.toyota.com/highlander/features.html, I see that the V-6 towing package gets a rating of 5000 pounds, while the 4-cylinder tow package rates 3500 pounds. Both have the asterisk (actually a footnote) as I described earlier. "The maximum you can tow depends on the total weight of any cargo, occupants and available equipment."

Again, 2009 web site, not 2008.
