Default New speed limit in Texas

I see where Texas is getting ready to up the speed limit from 70 mph to 85 mph on some interstates. That should be a real trip . Its bad enough now having Them come up from behind at 75 and 80 when your doing 60 to 65. I can imagine it now when the cars come up at 90 and 95 #@$%&* slow pokes get off the road Talk about road rage.

its not much different than in other western states. Besides, with $5/gallon looming that may cause people to keep their speed down more than a state trooper with a speedgun...

I hope that's not the Truck speed limit.

We run at 60mph usually, keep to the right and keep our heads down. Usually that makes us the slowest people on the road.

You can't ignore all those people going by you for safety reasons, but I refuse to worry about them too much. Heh, by slowing them down we're probably doing them a favour (not that they realize it).

In West Texas it's just an advisory anyway

My experience driving in Texas: "The sun done riz, the sun done set, and we ain't outta Texas yet." Even at 85 mph.

Have done it: Summer solstice - Downsville, LA to Las Cruces, NM via I-20 - Daylight for all 950 miles, wasn't towing the TM though.

I was born in the Panhandle, and travelled back and forth from California many times back in the 40's and 50's. My folks would always recite this poem at least once as we drove. Their version went:

"The sun is riz. The sun is set. An' here we is, in Texas yet."
