Cleaning products

Hello. . . I think I might have asked this question already, if I have I can't remember the answer. So I hope I'm forgiven for repeating myself. After camping last week the inside of the the toilet, tub, sink, etc. needs to be cleaned as well as sanitized. I want to make sure I don't use the wrong product. What's a good product to use? I read that bleach, or bleach products, shouldn't be used.

Another question. . . When we were camping we had to use the propane to have hot water. Wayne checked all the steps for using electric but it wouldn't heat the water. Has anyone had this happen?

Scrubbing bubbles sounds good, I never thought of that. Yes we had the propane tanks on because we also used the heater. The first time we went camping we used electric for the hot water, but it didn't work this time.

Okay, this is weird, and it makes it look like I'm talking to myself. At first I read, "I use Scrubbing Bubbles." and "Did you turn your propane on?" Now I only read "I use Scrubbing Bubbles" and the other part is not there anymore. LOL

I talk to myself all the time, usually not out loud. I used the scrubbing bubbles and then sprayed a real long shot of Lysol all over the inside and let it dry good before closing.

LOL... I talk to myself too, but here I was answering myself as well. I'll try the Lysol too. I just want to be sure the toilet is clean, and yet not damaged.

Thanks, that site had good information on the toilet. I already had gotten some Scrubbing Bubbles today, and after buying it (duh) I read the label. It said not for use on acrylic. Isn't the toilet acrylic inside? Or maybe it isn't, I don't know.

It's not so much the acrylic of the toilet, but the seals, tank, and sensors inside the thetford you need to worry about. the same applies to the gray water tankl. Use only mild cleaners/sanitizers! I like simple green, vinegar, Murphy's oil soap, etc., to clean. Basically, if you can swallow it or use it in baby's room, it's generally safe to use in the TM.

The Gray Water tank is made of polyethelene, it's nearly indestructible. But Bill is 100% right about the dump valve: Strong chemicals present in gray water contact the valve in it's CLOSED position, and backflushing when it's open does nothing to clean up the parts of the valve which have been pulled away. Use something really horrid into the gray tank, and the dilution (within gray water) might not be sufficient to save you from an early valve replacement job.

The Thetford is far more critical, because the release valve at the base of the toilet is a common problem area in TMs, and it's nasty and complicated to even get at for repair. Definitely use only top quality chemicals in the toilet.
