Default 2619 length with folded hitch

Hi, I'm looking for the entire exterior length of the 2619 from back edge of rear bumper to the front edge of the hitch with the hitch swung away. We need space to drive our golf cart past the front end of the hitch to get the cart out of the 22'10" deep garage. So getting an accurate measurement is important.

Also can the hitch be made to swing in either direction, or do they all open to the left or right as you look at the hitch end of the trailer?

Thanks!

The length should be approx 17 feet with the tongue folded. I can't give you an exact measurement except to say that it is within an inch of the total spec length (nominally 19 feet).

On some TMs the hitch will swing either way - on others it will swing only one way. I never figured out why the factory did this, but it depends (of course) on which pins are removable. On my 2006 TM, for example, I actually used a hammer to try to drive out the pin on the road side. No go. It was firmly pressed into what I assume was an undersized hole, while the pin on the curb side slipped out easily.

If both pins can be removed, you can take off the entire A-frame and stash it somewhere else - a great theft deterrent!

I can’t give you an exact measurement but I would venture that any size up to 3124 would fit in your garage* with the swing tongue swung. Also keep in mind the bumper isn’t always the rear-most part. On my 3326 the rear window stone shield hits the back garage wall first.

*as far as depth goes, anyway... You don’t mention garage door dimensions.

Garage door and door opener height is fine, should have 10" to spare, but the door is a single wide (107") on a 2.5 car garage/workshop. The trailer will be parked straight in from that door, but we need at least 4' in front of the hitch for the golf cart to be able to exit the garage without hitting the trailer hitch so it might be awfully close. Inches matter here, so I need an accurate measurement. If we can have the hitch swing to the curbside of the vehicle, that would help some, I'm thinking maybe a trailer shop could help drill it out if the pin is not removable. ??

The model number "2619" says that the overall closed length is 19 feet. TM has always been quite close on this numbering scheme.

I'm sure you have looked up the specs, which appear to say that the overall length of the trailer without swing hitch is 231 inches = 19 feet 3 inches. So the model number is about 3 inches shy.

The swing hitch nominally takes away 2 feet, though on my 2006 2720, it appeared to take away only 23-1/2 inches. Call it 23 inches. This would leave you with a trailer length of 231 - 23 = 208 inches.

Your length limit appears to be 22 feet 10 inches less 4 feet = 18 feet 10 inches, or 226 inches. The trailer is 208 inches. That should work? Could you fit a 2720 if you wanted?

Have I got all this right? Check my math, please.

As for swinging the hitch - if the removable pin is on the wrong side, I'm sure any metalworking shop or welding shop could pound the fixed pin out, and then drill/ream/grind the holes just enough that the pin can slide through it. Don't make the new holes any bigger than necessary! If the pins on both sides are loose - if, for example, you went 1/4 inch oversize - the assembly will have a tendency to flex and pound as you drive over roughness in the road, which will not have a good long-term result. The amount of oversize should be thousandths.

I measured my 2619 and have 16 ft an 10 inches. My hitch wasn't swung out of the way, but I measured just in front of where it swings to the back bumper.
I would have thought it would be less than 16 ft, but it was not. Checked it twice. My hitch only swings toward the door side. Hope this helps you.

You don't mention a year or I missed it, so keep in mind that older 2619s have the spare on the back. The spare is what hits the back garage wall first for us.

Our non-swing hitch 2619 fits in a 20' garage stall by less than an inch. But "a miss is as good as a mile"
