Default Sleeping for Guests in Front Slide Units

We're looking to move up from our current tent camper (a Starcraft Constellation) to a TM.  We know we'd prefer one of the units which has a King Size Bed.  The front slide units are most attractive because of the extra living area they provide.  However, we still would prefer some capability to handle some guests.  Our kids are grown but still enjoy camping and will "show up" on trips for an evening or part of a weekend.  Knowing there will eventually be grandchildren as well, we're wondering how those of you who have the front slide units handle guests.  It's our understanding the couch makes up as a double bed to handle two people, while in the 3326 the dinette makes an additional single bed.  If we were to buy the 3126KB, we'd get the extra sleeping space, but lose the living area.  We're not sure what's the best trade off.  Any other options or ideas would help us in making a decision on which unit we'd try to purchase.

BTW - The info on this site has been amazing!!! We've camped in Starcraft Pop-Ups for 20 years, and if there was a site like this for those units it would have been a lot easier to make some of the repairs we've done.  I know once we get our TM it will be a lot easier to deal with anything that comes along.

Thanks for being so passionate and helpful about your TM's -it's a great sales tool.

As the owner of a 2720 SL, I personally think of the front "bed" in this model as really being suitable for only one, not-too-tall-an-occasional-adult-guest. At a nominal 75 inches, it's 3 inches shorter than the true front beds and, being it's basically a sorta-flattened-couch, there's a distinct dip in the middle between the bottom and top couch cushions. And unlike the front bed models, there's no privacy curtain.

We have a  2720.  Our child/future grandchild situation is similar to yours.

Originally we wanted a slide unit.  We liked the looks of it and thought it would best meet our 2-person needs.   We ended up buying a used 2720 and are now glad we DIDN'T go with the slide unit.

We use the front bed as our "family room".  We have our small TV up there.  We place a couple pillows against one of the walls (our unit has no side windows in the front bed)  and sit/lounge up there for reading, relaxing, and the little tv watching we do.  Our dinette sofas are also pretty comfortable -- although I didn't find the newer model year cushions as comfortable as our 1999.

So we have our "living space" and do not give up our "guest bedroom".  The climbing up and down to the front bed does not bother us -- although I realize this could be an issue for some.  We really think we have MORE usable space.

I wonder if the back bed might be more appropriate for little kiddos as the wardrobe and bathroom wall might help keep them in bed.  Also, the permanent beds are sure to be more comfortable then either the sofa bed or the dinette.

Visit a dealership that has several models on the lot (new or used).  See if you are comfortable using the front bed as we do.

Everyone has different wants and needs.  We are very happy with our 2720.
