Can I replace roof A/C with a quieter unit?

I have a 2004 TM 1926. The roof mounted AC works great but is really loud. Do any of you know what would be a quieter replacement unit?

I have a 2009.5 2720 and it too is noisy when the compressor kicks on-it is a low profile Carrier. So they have not gotten much quieter is my sense.

One of our members - Mike Laupp, I think - designed an approach that is apparently quite successful at quieting the thing down. I don't have a link, but the Search tool should turn it up. Mike, you out there?

Here is what I did to my 2003 2720SL:

My 3004 3326 has a 15K Coleman. It is not a low profile and is much quieter than the one that was on my 2729SL. I don't know if I will do the mod on this one.
