Old Thetford
What are people doing with their old recirculating toilets? Just tossing them? I can't imagine anyone wants parts off them but i thought I would ask.

You’d be surprised, especially now that the toilet is discontinued and parts are getting scarce. I’ve parted out one, sold one, and I’m fixing the seals on another to sell as a whole unit.

I agree with Shane, and have bought some parts from him. Since the factory can no longer get Thetfords, they are installing a different toilet - I think a Sealand/Dometic M-28. Unfortunately, a quirk in the RVIA code requires the factory to install a truly ugly vent system with the M-28. I would do a lot of maintenance and repair on my Thetford before I would use the new vent. And with Thetford toilets discontinued, there are no maintenance and repair parts available.

Regarding the ugly vent, the first thing I would do is vent it out the wall like all not-up-to-code SeaLand installers do.

I tapped into the sink side wall vent for the sealand.
I'll temporarily keep mine sitting there. If anyone wants simple parts off mine, they can have them for the cost of shipping. Just post up or email me at [email protected]

Mine never worked when I got it, and it was disgusting, so I ripped it out and threw it in the trash can with extreme prejudice. Patched the whole in the floor with a combination of stainless steel sheet metal and underlayment wood patch goop from Home Depot, then covered it with laminate flooring, and attached a Thetford Porta Potti® 565E. The 565E is great but the mounting plate can be hard to find.
