Smile Problem solved, get ready to laugh you a$$ off

Okay, so it's Friday the 13th. At work in a meeting. Co worker comes in and says "chemical spill across the street. We're being evacuated! ". Okay so I run a credit union and its payday....great members won't be happy....but cool we get the afternoon off.....I get to try and fix the Thetford.

So I finally got the top off the toilet....took me about 10 minutes. Gross even if it was clean water, still a lot of leftover gunk. Look down and don't see the closed ez slide valve. That's odd. Take a screwdriver and stick it into the drain hole and it is clear. Okay, it can't be clogged since it emptied at campground, so what can it be???

Go outside to make sure I had the outside valve open. It was. Okay, something isn't right. Ah ha moment. Light bulb goes off! I had the GRAY WATER VALVE OPEN NOT THE BLACK!!!

OMG! I can't believe it. I know I had previously tried both, but that must have been when inside valve was closed.

Back in July when I first got the trailer and was figuring out what everything was, I thought to myself, should really label the black and gray tank valves so I don't accidentally mix them up. Can't believe the factory doesn't mark them. But I never did mark them. But they Are marked now!

Guess I am still glad I opened it up because it is really gross inside and I want to completely clean it out.

So thanks for all your help, and have a good laugh on me!

OK Sara, you are not the only one! I did exactly the same thing with new unit--out came the label maker and I haven't made that mistake since.

Default New problem

Okay so I put it all back together again, Then I figured a better test it so I added water. As I was doing that though I noticed that the indicator was about on the middle it was not saying charged it was kind of in the middle so it seems something happened to that.

Anyway I continue to fill with water and after I figured I had enough then I tried to flush it, And no water will come out of the toilet the way it's supposed to for Flushing.

Then I tried to release the EZ slide valve again at the base of the toilet and I heard the whooshing of the water go out to the exterior bucket that I have, so at least the water is drained.

But what about the fill level indicator? How do I fix this and is that affecting why it won't flush correctly?

Default Finally working

Okay so I finally took at the top off again and I realize there's not much water in it so there had to have been a leak maybe the EZslide valve not fully closed?

I also readjusted what appears to be what I would call the "float" that seems to indicate water level of tank. Then I added more water again, lifted top to make sure water is in tank, and then tried flushing. FINALLY water starts flushing like it should.

I think I will wait awhile to see if any more water leaks out, and if not and it still flushes in about half hour, then I will screw it all down, empty the tank and call it a night.

Glad you figured it out, Sara! I was going to mention the gray water/black water valve issue, but I was afraid I would have embarrassed you. I wish I had spoken out, now!

Turns out the valve was not 100% closed so it was a slow leak issue. All fixed, yeah.

Default Never hurts to state the obvious.

Don't worry about embarrassing me. I do plenty on my own . It kills me though when you thought you had checked all the obvious stuff, and then realize you didn't.

That's why I should have marked it the first time I thought about it. Oh well, another funny story to make someone laugh.
