Default Toilet Trick!!!

Here is a trick...

When you are dry camping and the toilet tank is getting full...AND ONLY if you have been using biodegradeable soap in the shower...you can drain the shower water into a nice friendly nearby bush...then...put the cap on the sewer opening and leave the grey water tank slider valve open and then also open the inside and outside toilet slider valves. The toilet blue juice will drain down the pipes and then backflow into the grey water tank (Ive always heard that stuff flows downhill). Then close th two outside slider valves and the inside slider valve under the toilet.

Now you can start over with the Thetford but be careful you do not overflow the grey tank with long showers.

Also...when enroute we place a 1 gallon freezer bag filled with water on top of the Therford when it is full. Weve been on some rough roads and no spillage.

I pondered that idea, but then decided that the Curve would be less hassle. All that back-wash cleaning and listening to DW say "You did what?" Please don' t take this wrong, but I think a short or long drive to the the nearest vault toilet, gas station or ?, would be better than hearing "You Did What?

How long have you been married?!?!?

You do NOT sound like a veteran. Sometimes it is better to just do and then discuss later.

The last time we went camping in out TM...one morning I moved the entire rig before she woke up and she did not even know it had been moved...that is the proper plan!!!

LOL, Me? 42 years! I just know her all to well, if I filled the grey water tank with black water, one of two things would happen, I'd have two replace the grey water tank or sell the trailer.

Doing that would then make your grey water tank into a black water tank. Do it enough times and the resultent odor will invade via the shower drain.

If you look at the difference in diameter between the grey and black water lines, solids that pass through the larger black water piping may not pass through the grey. In addition, the grey line leaves the tank partway up the side. So, I suspect any solids that are forced backward into the grey tank may be happy to stay there, causing future problems. My opinion is the two shutoff valves separating black and grey water are there for that reason, to keep them separate.

Also note that newer TMs have completely separate outlets for black and gray, so this wouldn't work.

If I got this desperate, I'd get a Blue Tank.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn't this leave a certain amount of "juice" between the valves and the outside cap? I can't see how to attach the dump hose without releasing what's trapped in there. Eww.

I'm with you Redtail. I have 46 yrs with the DW and it would be more than "you did what". It would be more like it's either me or TM but one of us is out of here. And I vote for keeping both. You are only asking for trouble if you do this and a lot of campgrounds don't want you dumping your gray water if it's a state park or national park you are out if they catch you. As for moving the TM while the DW is sleeping you're looking to wreck the lifting arms just look at the post from TM in their newsletter. Sorry to bust your bubble Camper One, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
