Default 2720SL Couch/Bed (Slight Mod)

I know many have mixed emotions about the couch and how comfortable it is (or not) and we are in that group.

A few of things really bothered us about the couch:

A. When made into a bed, the cushion(away from the front wall) was severely tilted downward and you had the feeling you were about to fall out of the bed.

B. If you turned over while in the bed the same cushion would rock back and forth, while making a loud clunkity-clunk sound and was sure to make you --Now wide awake!

C. When used a a couch, if someone was sitting on the bottom cushion it would tend to slide forward and then the backrest cushion would then drop down between the bottom cushion and the wall -- making it even more uncomfortable to sit on.

We brought this subject up with the dealer where we bought the TM and they really could not come up with a fix so it was on us.

To fix all three problems we used shims in two places on each side of the couch (see attached photo)

See#1. We used jb weld to attach an aluminum shim to the underside of the Welded L-bracket on each. For the bed this had the effect of reducing the tilt and clunkity-clunk motion.

See#2 We attached (with Screws) another shim at the front edge on each side. This had the effect of raising the front of the cushion to get it level (bed) and it also served as a stop to keep the Bottom cushion from sliding forward while sitting on the couch.(The bottom cushion has a metal rail that fits nicely behind the stop.

This was a fix for some of our pet peeves and we are not aware of anyone else that has these particular problems. -- but i'm guessing there are

Thanks for reading!

Looks like a good idea. With only a weeks use on our TM and not using the couch as a bed; as yet we haven't noticed these symptoms.
