Question Rise (190tb)

Hello Everyone,

It's been a few years since I have posted as well as camped in our previous TM's. My wife and I have owned two TM's (2720 and 2417), which we sold and got out of camping for family reasons. Anyway, we are looking to purchase another TM and have seen a Rise listed at Prosser, in WI.

My questions are; does anyone own one of these? If so, please let me know all of the good and bad about this unit.

Thanks,
Mike.

There’s like 3 or 4 in existence. They never really got past the prototypes. Just know that service and parts may be all but non-existent for the lift mechanism.

I had completely forgotten about the RISE. It was one of two new designs done by Trailmanor during the short time that the factory was in Nebraska. The other new design was a slide-in pickup truck camper, also called the RISE. Both of these had a hydraulic mechanism to raise the roof - hence the name RISE. Neither ever graduated to a unique name of its own.

For those interested, you can see the RISE trailer here

The pickup camper can be seen here

I would imagine - but I don't know - that Trailmanor used an easily-available hydraulic mechanism on both, just as they are now using a commonly available mechanism for the electric slide on current campers. A bigger issue, as Shane mentions, might be things like custom-built brackets and mounting mechanisms, as well as potentially bigger items like running gear.

If I were you, I would make contact with Bob Eickhoff at today's South Dakota Trailmanor factory. He was running the Nebraska outfit at the time, and both of these new and promising designs came to fruition under his management. I believe his email is [email protected]. If not, you can certainly reach him through [email protected].

Make no mistake. The current Trailmanor company will not offer support or service for either of the RISE models. However, there might be a lot of commonality with some parts. Bob will know.

So I clicked the link above and saw the Duck Blind edition TM; it’s all RealTree-ish looking camouflage. One of those was at the factory when we visited in 2020! I had no idea it was a TM thing, I thought someone did a custom job. Kinda neat.

And 7’2” of headroom in the Rise truck camper? That must be nice!

Thank you so much Bill and Shane! I think we may reconsider the Rise and go with a 2720. Thanks again.

Mike.

I understand your conclusion. I'm sure you considered that IF you are mechanically minded, and don't mind taking on some potentially complex projects - and IF the unit at Prosser is in good condition - THEN you might get a truly incredible deal on it. As Shane explained, the market for these things is essentially zero. I'm not sure how Prosser came to have it in their inventory, but I've got to believe that they are more than a little eager to sell it.

The pictures of the interior suggest that there is a lot of commonality with the conventional TrailManors of the day (which makes sense), which in turn have an awful lot in common with today's TrailManors. The differences might not be as big as one would first think.
