Default Unable to light refrig with igniter button

Hi there-- a couple of retirees, we have had our TM since 2011 and initially had no problems, but for several years now, we have been unable light the refrig using the igniter button on the inside of the unit. We read the manual and read posts referring to the piezo igniter and the 'spark' that lights the flame for the fridge but we can't figure out what is not working. So we have resorted to manually lighting the flame using a lighter from the outside...and the little buttons holding on the outside door are now broken from opening it so much.
Hubby is always outside and I am inside holding in the button. First trip of every year though, he forgets exactly where specifically to direct the flame and always gets very frustrated, but eventually gets it to light. (We are the older couple yelling at each other through the window, the minute we have gotten to the campsite.)
My question is simply what the problem might be on lighting the fridge? The igniter button does make a loud click when pushed as it should so does that mean it is not the problem? Even after lighting the stove burner first, we can't seem to get the refrig to light that way, like we used to. Any advice on troubleshooting the spark (or lack thereof) would be appreciated.
p.s. we have never taken out the refrigerator and don't know if we could do that

I think we just covered this here, or maybe it was on the TM Fans group over on Facebook…

Anyway, here’s the simple way to diagnose. Sounds like you can light the pilot manually, yes? If so, WITH THE PROPANE TANKS CLOSED, one person goes outside, removed the panels, and looks at the back of the fridge. The other person is inside and just clicks the red “Light” button. Does the person outside see a nice fat blue spark? If not, it’s either the piezo igniter or the spark cable. Both are easy to change but might involve pulling the fridge forward a bit. Here’s a parts list (I also included the burner and thermocouple, just in case)

Pulling the fridge out for service is really easy. The fridge is not very heavy and just held in by 6 screws.

1. Remove the top fridge door hinge screw with a 1/2" open end wrench.
2. Pull the top of the door slightly forward (to clear the hinge plate) and lift at the same time to lift the door off of the lower hinge stud. The door is light and easy to remove. Be sure to set aside the plastic washer that is on the bottom door hinge. Set the door aside.
3. Remove 6 retaining screws (3 on each side of the fridge frame). See pic.
4. Lift the front of the fridge slightly (to clear the floor molding and pull fridge straight forward between 12" and 24". You may have to slide a paint scraper or butter knife between the flange on the fridge and the wood cabinet to loosen it up a bit. Just try not to scratch the wood on the cabinet.
5. Reverse procedure to replace the fridge. Don't forget to put the plastic washer on the lower door hinge stud.

First picture shows the mounting screws. second pic shows the fridge totally removed but it also shows that small molding on the floor that you will need to clear by lifting the front of the fridge slightly.

Hope that helps.
