Since the side and back panels had separated some, we GENTLY pulled the outer side aluminum panel back to get access to the wood and remove it. The panel is glued to the insulation / frame, so be gentle pulling it back. The only thing you need to access from the “inside” of the trailer is the one lag screw that goes in sideways into the wood (you can access that easily by pushing the bed in). Good luck!

When I worked on this corner of mine I used pressure treated deck boards. they fit the width without 'ripping...(I'm not good at ripping boards)" and they are made to withstand unprotected elements.
