Default Heater Grate

I've noticed that the heater is located on the bottom of the couch or the bottom on the dinette seat.

How hot does it the grate get? Seems like if you are sitting there, you could burn the back of your legs.

Thanks

I have a Suburban NT-20SE 19000 BTU/H in my TrailManor.
I also have a NT-16S that I bought and tested to put in my old pop-up camper. If I remember correctly, the heat comes out about 70 degrees F above ambient (inside) temperature.
Which means if it is pulling in 65F room air the output is about 135F.

Yes it quickly gets uncomfortably hot to have your legs in front of the heater.

No problem - spread your legs or slide your butt over while it is running.

One caution: If you have the vinyl floor as in the newer models, and run the heater for a while, it will bubble the vinyl. If you need to run the heat for an extended period of time, you can place a 18" x 18" non flammable material on the floor in front of the heater grate.

As an option to the standard TM gas heater, many of use a small 110v space heater. The standard heater is noisy, particularly when trying to sleep. So IF you have hook-ups and it is not too cold, you might just find the space heater to be the "hot ticket"! On cold nights, we set our TM heater to 55 degrees and leave the space heater on all night. Generally, the TM heater only comes on a couple of times.

My standard routine in the morning is to get up, sit down on the seat above the heater and drink my morning coffee while the TM interior heats up. We usually sleep with the heater off and depend on our bedding for warmth.

The heat feels good to me. I have never even considered it burning my leg.
