Default Trailmanor lift kit

Has anyone lifted their Trailmanor for more clearance? we do a lot of off road back woods camping and was wondering if there was such a thing as a lift made for the Trailmanors, on the parts list there is a lift : part number 40003 Lift Kit, 2-1/2" I emailed them today to see if it was a lift kit. if it is not for the axle to frame, i was thinking of fabricating a couple lift blocks and installing longer bolts to give my 3023 a little extra clearance. I can have everything made at the shop at my work (I am employed as a industrial mechanic so i have the tools to make one) the tires dont have a lot of room in the wheel wells and it would give me a little extra when going up or down steep inclines off road.

Issue with the lift kit is that the axle is the same height. To raise everything it needs an axle clocked at 45 degrees instead of 22.5.

The lift kit has been discussed extensively here on the forum. The Search tool will turn up more than you ever wanted to know.

You can check out a good tutorial on installing a lift kit, written by wbmiller3, in the TM Technical Library, a.k.a. "Trail Manor Information You Won 't Find Anywhere Else"

Padgett is right that it doesn't increase the axle height, so it is not a cure-all.

Bill.

How do I find the TM Technical Library? I did a search, but didn't find it.

It is the very first forum in the list of forums on the entry page. Lots of good stuff there.

Default Lift kit finished today

Ordered from trailmanor and received a 2" (and 1/2) lift and put on this morning. Every thing is back together. Now gettin ready to buy new tires and wheels. There were no track welds on 2720 SL 2003. Took off the 4 bolts holding the axel to the frame (by far the hardest part of the job). Put undercoating paint on the 2 inch by 2 inch steel square lifters (about a foot long). Oh, when the last bold came out the tension in the torque apparatus (in place of springs) caused the axel to twist, I did not think of this and I am under the trailer on my creeper. The axel slowly twisted to around so the top was on the bottom. But it first twists on my, I was happy it was not a 12,000 axel, would not have been able to lift that off, but since it was light enough, I just eased it down. Would have been very difficult to lift back up, but I have a 4 ton floor jack put in the middle of the axel, and lifted it right up into place (after I had raised the trailer 3 more inches. When the jack raised the axel, it twisted back into place. It really was not that hard, but I would put the jack under the axel first next time(there will be no next time, I hope). Now all I need is my new tire and wheels. Need those because my 2003 trainer has 2002 tires. Will upgrade to 15 inch tires and wheels.

I just did mine this past weekend. It gives the vulnerable drain pipes additional clearance. The hardest part is filing off the tack welds.

Default Steel tube measurments

Here is info from an old post by HarvyRV:

For any one that is interested in making your own lift-spacers, the bolt holes are 8" on center and you need a minimum of 12" of either 2" or 2.5" square tube. The tube should be minimum 3/16" wall thickness. The place that I bought the tubing from (new $9 Incl cutting) also had 3"x 4" tubing which would work also (I was tempted). If anyone might contemplate this, there is no restriction on the width of the spacer. However, any higher than 2.5", I would recommend using 3/4" bolts. I used 5/8-18 grade 8 bolts (4" long 4 1/2" might be better), nuts & lock washers. I double nutted them for safety and torqued them to 150ft #.
