Smile LED Ceiling Light Fixture upgrade

Greetings All,

I own a 2012 2720SL. Mine has 4 incandescent light fixtures mounted inside two ceiling vents toward the front of the unit, two inside each vent. This is the half of the ceiling unit that folds down last, over the back half. The existing lights are attached to the vent frame and screen. This arrangement does keep the thick fixtures mostly recessed inside the vent opening - so they don't get crushed when closing the unit. It is a bit cheesy looking and prohibits the removable screens from being removed for cleaning. I 'd like to remove these fixtures and install two low-rofile LED fixtures next to the vent instead. Those LED fixtures are a little over an inch thick. The folks at Trailmanor are suggesting that this is possible with the chosen LED fixture. However I can find no once at Trailmanor who is super confident since this is a mod.

I am concerned with starting a project like this only to dent my ceiling and/or destroy the LED fixtures.

Has anyone done a modification like this and could you share what worked or didn't work for you?

I changed the bulbs only to led, I clean from above when mine is down.
Works fine for me.

I echo TMM. I just replaced the bulbs. It was quick and very easy. Some members have purchased a RV ceiling vent chandelier; and I've thought about doing that mod myself. It replaces the vent trim, but uses the light wiring. I think it looks cleaner.
You can GGL it and find several sellers. I believe PPL motor homes has them on sale.

I have the RV Chandeliers. I love them. Very clean looking. But note they don't replace the vent trim ring, they just mount over the trim ring using the same screws. My vents were in rough shape so I installed new screens, trim rings, and the chandeliers. They look great and they are BRIGHT! They are available in cool white or warm white, and with a clear or frosted lens. Amazon has them; search Heng's RV Chandelier.

Here is a link to how I handled the vent mounted lights. While it is easier to just replace the bulbs with socket mounted LED's I replaced the complete assembly's.
