Default Broken Spring Clip

The left Door Jamb Spring Clip is about to break off on my new 2619. It is held on with two screws of which only one is still holding. TrailManor sent me two replacements and I will replace the broken one ASAP.
The Spring Clip holds the door jambs very tight; so tight that it is difficult to undo the connection. I plan to spray a little silicon into the clip which should make separation easier and maybe keep the replacement clip from breaking.

Our left door jamb spring clip broke off on a recent trip. It was always very tight, hard to work and looked rusty, even when brand new from the dealer. The right one works great and has no rust! It was never tight like the left one. We were planning to call the dealer next week for a replacement as out TM was new this past April. Is it better to call the factory?

Interesting.  Both of our spring clips were rusty right from the factory, too.  They both worked well, though when I took the unit in for service with the dealer, I asked them to replace them.  They look better now, and work well too, but it seems a couple of times, I have put the post into a space outside the clip, since the new clip keeps the door tighter than the old one did.  That's not really a problem, though.  I would just call the dealer rather than the factory, based on my experience.

My clips are very tight also but it seems that they should be to hold the door and frame securely. I greased the clips with chassis grease and use the pliers on my leatherman to help open the clips when releasing them. This works fine for me.

Default Replacing door spring

July 24, 2008

Well, last trip out the door spring clip broke off. Ordered 2 new ones from factory, the only problem the holes do not line up exactly like the old one. Again the factory modify clip and change hole pattern.

It looks like the top hole will be no problem, but the bottom hole is offset and not lining up. Propbably will need to redrill, but trying to figure out what kind of tool (clip wedged between walls) I can get in there to drill holes. Not much area to work in. Thinking maybe a right angle die grinder with very small drill bit. Any ideas out there?

We accidentally bent our left clip. Ed sent us a new one no charge. Both clips are very tight and ours appear to be stainless.

Joe,

Just a thought . . . would it be easier to access the spring clip with only the front shell opened?

I replaced my spring clip last year. To get some working space, you need to adjust the shells so that the clip is in the doorway. Then you'll have all the space you need, and you can use a regular drill and bit.

I also had to drill a new hole in the wall to accomodate the new hole pattern.

I did it on my 2001 and it wasn't easy. There is a thread on this about a year old called "door clips".
