I was washing the TM and saw what appeared to be either a rusted scratch or a line of dirt. It did not wash off. That eliminated the dirt theory. Closer observation identified the reality.
Trying to get it fixed when it can not be towed is an interesting problem to solve.
I could not find a portable welder to come to my home, even though TM would pay for it, because it was within the first year.
I could not find a towing company to load it onto a flatbed and take it to the dealer, about 100 miles away. They said it was too tall and would not fit under some overpasses.
Thanks to Stan, my dealer, he came down with the hauler that he uses to take TMs from his lot to local shows. He took it to one of his local welders and it was promptly repaired. I went up to bring it back home.
All is good.
I would not be surprised that the factory changed the process to add the extra strap because of my failure. A modest increase in manufacturing cost will potentially prevent a disaster.
There is a lot of good stuff that has been posted as far back as February 2005. I can not comment on anything older than that, because I joined in February 2005. maybe it was March.
