WDH capacity

I'm picking up my new 3023 Friday & planned to use a Eaz-Lift hitch that I got at a yard sale. On closer inspection I have 14000/1200 # ball mount & 1000# arms. I had read here that some people recommend one wt. larger that hitch wt. or750#. I called the factory and they said it 's OK but will mak e the ride stiff. TV is 03 Tundra Access Cab V-8. Any comments or opinions will be greatly appreciated. Oh! I hope to get to Alaska from LA(Lower Alabama)!
