I do not own a TM but saw a 2417SL last week and really thought that this would be the model I'd choose IF it was available in the narrower, SPORT model width and was offered at a realistic price......It seemed VERY slick!!!

arkydoodle, a "realistic price" is a matter of perspective.

Keep in mind the floor space you have available with the TM models, compared to the tow length, ease of towing, and price.

I walked an RV show last year, comparing all of the above, and found that no other TT had as much room inside, while having a king bed, and towing at 17 feet. The other 17' TTs had smaller beds, and were much more cramped. Plus, they weighed about 1,000 lbs more than the TM.

TrailManors are not cheap, but they give you lots of room for the sleeping space/living space, coupled with the tow length and weight. If you want to spend less, you get less in travel trailers. You can't compare TMs to popup campers, unless you compare actual box lengths. My 2417 has about a 10' box, plus a king bed and a double bed. Most popups I have looked at have shorter boxes, or smaller beds. Comparable-sized popups with the same amenities/options are very close to the same price, have canvas walls, and weigh as much, or more. (I moved-up from a popup, so I am quite familiar with them.)

You have to compare apples to apples.

A Sport with a slide, huh? Can't wait to see it. May have to trade my 2417 Sport for a slide. We don't use the bed for anything but shelf space, so it would be nice to have a couch!

One of the aspects I enjoy about the TM is the distance from the beds to each other. When wife and I are in the rear king bed, our guests when we invite them, are at least 25ft away. With the sliding drapes, we can partition off the beds and have quite a bit of privacy.

I'm not aware of any other TT in the category that offers this type of space.

Bob (at TM) knew I was interested in the TMs (especially the 2417 model) but I had never actually seen one. He arranged for the truck that was delivering three 2417s from TN to Portland to stop as it came thru town and the driver unloaded a 2417 SL (not the Sport model) for me to check out....In the WalMart parking lot......VERY cool.....and it looks like it only costs about $1400 for the slide option.....
