Default 17 inch tires?

I have not given up on keeping my TM yet, so my mind continues to wonder what I can do to make it better and safer. Going to 17 inch tires would open me up to much stronger tires (I believe). Because I have lifted my trailer up 2.5 inches does that mean I may have the ability to put 17 inch tires in? Can someone guide me through the process of determining if that is possible?
