Default Roof repair in closed seal area

Somewhere on the forum someone used some sort of tape to cover the area on the roof where the front shell seal rides on the rear shell when closed. My TM is worn in that area and I'd like to put something over it to protect it from further damage. Does anyone remember what the stuff was? I spent the day cleaning the seals because I'm sure the dirt has a lot to do with the wear.

I think you may be referring to "EternaBond:

Although I think that there are a lot of high bonding tapes that are a lot less expensive. Basically, you just need a high bond tape with a slick surface. EternaBond is more for repairing leaks. I'm not sure that EternaBond is very chafe resistant.

A 6" wide, white decal tape may do a better job. I'd be interested in some too.

Hey Wayne, I found the thread I was referring to.

It's McMaster-Carr UHMW tape.

It's still on mine, still attached after almost three years. It yellowed a little bit very quickly but didn't seem to change after that. Maybe the yellow was just its natural color.

That looks a lot better........

I'll bet that stuff is a real challenge to get on without wrinkling or bubbles.......

I've been thinking about just shooting a good coat of LP paint on there. Mine isn't too bad and I have been spending more time working on the camper than I have camping in it.

Our original plan was to buy this TM and use it for a year, to be sure this is what we want. Now we've had it 2 years and I've put so many upgrades in it that I have no intention of parting with it.

Same thing here, bought it to see if we were gonna use it and I too have spent the last 6 months doing every mod on the forum. LOL. We are getting ready to make the longest trip yet March 13th for a week to Carlsbad Caverns. If I can ever get my DW to retire I plan on lots more long trip in the future and hope to cross paths with another TM'er.
