Flying Flags RV Park, Buellton, CA
We went up to Flying Flags for our first trip ever in our new 2004 2720. We wanted to make sure everything works before our Labor Day trip to Sequoia National Park, so we got full hookups. Of course, now I'm spoiled! There won't be any hookups in Sequoia.
Flying Flags is a great campground, especially if you have kids; there's a swimming pool, arcade/game room, and playground. Also, it's about 10 minutes away from Solvang, a quaint Danish town. Santa Ynez with its Casino and wineries is also close by, as is Cachuma Lake. We checked out their campgrounds; they're first come first served, so Flying Flags is definitely the way to go.

Re:Flying Flags RV Park, Buellton, CA
Hello,
There isn't any hiking I know off right off the campground, but if you go south on 101 for about 10 miles, Nojoqui State Park has a neat waterfall you can hike to. Gaviota State Beach is a few miles south of that and there are hiking trails there. Flying Flags permits leashed pets.
The sites themselves are pretty close together. We had a pull through site which was nice. You get the post for hookups and a picnic table. We didn't really feel cramped, and in fact, I thought it was very quiet. The campground has many trees, and is extremely clean. The bathrooms are well maintained and cleaned often during the day.
As for Sequoia NP, you can get reservations at Lodgepole and Dorst Creek campgrounds. Lodgepole campground has a store, showers, etc. Dorst Creek is more rugged although it has flush toilets. Dorst Creek also has more bears roaming through it. For reservations at Lodgepole or Dorst, you can either call 800 365 2267 or go to reservations.nps.gov I think you can reserve a couple of months in advance, but you may want to check. We got reservations for Labor Day in June!
A really great guide to campgrounds is Foghorn Outdoors California Camping by Tom Stienstra.
Good luck!

Re:Flying Flags RV Park, Buellton, CA
Actually, I checked out the website but had questions, so I called and reserved on the phone. The combined length of our 2720 and Tahoe is about 40 feet, so we reserved a 40 foot site. They ask you to add the length of the trailer and tow vehicle.
The guy taking my reservation walked me through the process and answered the gazillion questions I had. He gave me a reservation number, and then a week later I received a postcard in the mail.
All of this is uncharted territory for us, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all is as expected when we get to Sequoia. :

Re:Flying Flags RV Park, Buellton, CA
This is an interesting post. I almost stayed there last week on my way up the coast from Disneyland on our return trip.
But we instead opted to stay in Nippomo at my brother-in-law's place for free...
Good to know about it though as it was the recommendation from several park rangers along the way, and was also found in Woodalls Guide.

Re:Flying Flags RV Park, Buellton, CA
Has anyone stayed at the Sunrise RV Park in Santa Barbara, CA? I called them and they said that it's right on 101, but it's also smack dab in the city and convenient to all the fun spots, or so it seems. We're really sensitive to noise due to the fact that we live "off the beaten track", and do not live with lots of traffic noise. We're not that picky, just need to sleep.
