Rocker switch for front lights in 2720

I removed the screen in the vent with the rocker switch for the front lights to repair a small hole. When I removed the inside plastic trim piece that the switch is mounted to I blew the front shell fuse. The push on contacts going to the switch are not insulated and during removal they hit the inner aluminum portion of the roof which is ground for the 12v system. To prevent this in the future, I taped the two push on connectors and also put a piece of HD duct tape on the inner aluminum sheet of the roof where the switch mounts.
