Default Need some assistance, 2720 or 2619?

Hello all, we started looking for a popup camper and finally settled on TrailManor but can’t decide on the 2720 or 2619. We are still learning the differences and maybe someone can help.

Here’s a few things we know we want (not sure what’s standard):
  1. queen bed
  2. 15" tires with spare
  3. Sleeper sofa
  4. AC/heat
  5. Oven not microwave
  6. awning
  7. stone shields front and back
  8. folding tongue
  9. full bath with shower
  10. extra cabinet over sink
  11. 2 propane tanks

Is all this possible on a 2619 or is a 2720 more suitable?

Thanks!

My understanding is that the 2619 had a double bed in back, 48x78 vs the queen in a 2720, 60x78, that is the foot difference in length. For 15" tires it must have been after 2006 because my April coach had 14's.

The 2720SL (Slide Lounge ?) seems to be the most common model this century and has the forward sofa bed. I really like the separate dinette of the 3326 but those seem to be rare and NLA.

What vehicle do you have to tow a TM? Your wish list indicates that you need to get a larger TM. TM's are designed to be pulled by smaller vehicles. I have a 3326 King. I pull it with my 2003 Ram truck which is overkill to the weight of the 3326.

Are you trying to store your TM in a garage? If not, again you need to look at the larger TM's.

Tell us what you have to tow with and where you want to store it. Then we can tell you which model TM fits your wish list

Joeplace, are you looking at getting a new or used TM? Also the 2720 has a queen bed.

Many of the items on your list of wants are options available on all models; however you'll find when you start looking that most units will have most of the options on your wish list. Optional equipment on most models include;

Swing tongue
A/C
Awning
Extra cabinets
Stone shields

Built-in Microwave is optional
SL models have the sofa sleeper

Good luck in your search

I just purchased a 2009 2619, I researched the 2720's and end up getting the 2619 only because at the time I got a very good deal. The 2619 for my year came standard with (from your list)
2 double beds and a dinette that folds down into a bed
14" tires with spare not 15"
heat
Oven
stone shields front and back
full bath with shower
2 propane tanks
additional std equipment also included

Optional Equipment(From your list)
AC
awning
folding tongue
extra cabinet over sink
There is also additional Options

As stated by Padgett the only difference is the size of the back bed
They both sleep 6. If you want a couch the the 2720sl is you only option in the 2720 series (not available on the 2619) again this is from the 2009 model year

ps as mentioned in my .sig, the 2720SL recently became the 2720QS (Queen Sofa). Same coach. Bought mine for the same reason many do: it was close and the price I wanted to pay.

Wow, thanks for the help everyone!

Let's see, my TV is a Chevy C1500 w/4.3 and tow package. I's SWB with a camper shell on rear and should handle 5,000 lbs. easy . . . as for a storage place I have a separate storage building that is 15' high where the 28' HiLo was stored. It's actually 18' wide X 32' long X 15' high and a 2720 should fit nicely.

We would like to purchase used and close to local if possible but haven't ruled out new - just don't want to inherit someone's problems. We just relocated from CA to Louisiana, retired and put our sailboat for sale this week. We should have funds when it sells - guess it's time for sailing on dry land with a TM

In my experience Craigslist and RVTrader are good places to start. You can find many posts on what to look for but the biggies as:
1) any sign of leaks in or outside particularly at the dump valves behind the driver's side (US) wheel.
2) is it easy (not one hand but close) to open and close
3) do all of the appliances work in all modes
4) are the seals/flaps in good shape
5) do the torsion bars have lots of adjustment left
6) are the tires/wheels recent and proper load range for the coach.
7) Does the door fit properly
8) Do the module latches line up properly when closed.
9) Is there a spare tire
10) general check for fit, finish, and signs of corrosion.

Some of the best deals are from a dealer who took one in trade but does not normally handle or know TMs. Expect "as is/where is" and should be priced accordingly (NADA Low Retail is a good place to start). If you want a really nice one find either a fanatical owner who is moving up/down or a TM dealer but expect to pay accordingly.

Just remember, "condition is everything".

ps a dealer may not allow you to take off the lot unless you have the proper equipment for towing including a functional brake controller

pps mine has a 2" ball hitch and a 7 pin (round) trailer connector

Have you checked the "For Sale " section of this web site .

That is how I found our 3326 and went to Colorado to buy it but the listings are for the different sections of the country.

Good luck on your search.
