Dual or single 2000i and where to buy

What configuration should I buy to power my TM? I am leaning towards
dual 2000i but I could look at other gensets.

Also, where are the best places to buy one.

I went with a single Yamaha 2400 off the net ebay brand new.

We borrowed a Honda 2000 for a camping trip in the Ocala National Forest the first week of March...my husband was very impressed with the quietness of it. Do not know the best place to buy though.

If a single Yamaha 2400 will run your a/c at your altitude that may be a good choice.

Otherwise a pair of Honda 2000s, or a single3000 either Honda or Yamaha.

If you have a lot of time, go over to www.rv.net and spend the entire weekend reading about generators for rvs.

At $1,099 each Cabelas seems to have the lowest Internet price I can find for the Yamaha EF2400iS at the present time. Cabelas also has a $4.95 shipping offer that's only good for a few more days. It expires on 3/18/08. Insert the shipping code "38FLAT" at checkout to take advantage of the low shipping offer. In my experience they're an excellent firm to deal with.

The Yamaha 2400 will run the AC but I've not tried at altitude. My guess is that it still will if you let the AC cap charge a few seconds before going to AC from fan. It's fairly bulky and I store it in the TM's hall strapped down during xport. It's quiet and starts first pull, when I remember to turn the ignition switch on. It's way over kill for just the batteries and we haven't bothered with a micro. We have a 12V hairdryer for the wife. It just idles when charging batts.

After reading all the great information posted here and weighing the alternatives, I decided to purchase the Yamaha EF2400iS. I just picked it up from Cabela's and will be using it this camping year. I look forward to dry camping without worrying about running out of battery power.

For me, the ability to run the AC, the low db rating and the price when compared to two Honda EU2000's were the determining factors.

When I bought my Honda 2000 in 2005, I do not think the Yamaha 2400 was available yet. My original plan was to get a second Honda 2000 if I ever went somewhere that I wanted to run the a/c.

Since hearing about the Yamaha 2400 I kept wondering if it would be better to sell the Honda 2000 and get the Yamaha 2400 or get a second Honda. I have been wondering this for more than a year.

I was at a show recently and they had the Yamaha there. I could lift it, but I'm not getting any younger, 54 now. I find it easier to lift the Honda with one hand with the Honda by my side instead of lifting the Yamaha in front of me. I decided to stick with the original plan.

For the two weekends prior to now I spent both days working on the TM, primarily constructing drawers for the cabinets. All that crawling around on the floor, especially when attaching screws to the wall in the back of the cabinet resulted in a painful back. Apparently I should be doing stretching exercises three times a day, according to my Chiropractor. I lost three days of work because of the back injury. The Yamaha would not be a good choice for me.

We were in Moab last August and had we not had hookups, the generator would have come with. We might go to Escalante this year where there are no hookups. I can't sleep in the heat, 100 at night, so cooling off the TM before night time would be nice.

The Yamaha is definately a two handed affair but you know that since you just bought one.
