Grand Cherokee Transmission Cooler
Today we happened to get back a radiator out of a grand cherokee that was no good. Being such, and being curious, I removed the actual transmission cooler out of the radiator. This is the same transmission cooler in *all* grand cherokees. Thought you guys might like to see what one looks like. (Lets hope it allows the pics to post in the thread). Note that it is basically a hollow tube which the coolent goes both through and around to cool the transmission fluid.

Re:Grand Cherokee Transmission Cooler
Doesn't look like a whole lot of heat-exchanger surface area. Do Cherokees tend to overheat their transmissions?

Re:Grand Cherokee Transmission Cooler
Well, I talked to this guy that worked for several years for a transmission shop, and he said they weren't very good for towing because of the transmissions, thought you all might like to see the cooler....If I think about it, I'll bring home another one from a GM radiator tomorrow and post some pics as well......

Re:Grand Cherokee Transmission Cooler
As promised, I brought home two GM coolers, one, the one on the bottom is a 3 plate 11.5" engine oil cooler out of a cadallac radiator. (You can see how the fittings are larger). The one in the middle is a 4 plate 11.5" transmission oil cooler. And the one on the top is the same one in the pictures I've already posted from a grand cherokee.
