Default Eternabond tape use ?

Has anyone used EternaBond tape to seal over the seams on the roof to address potential leaks?? Also what type of Chaulking would be recommended?

That's on my TODO list, I used Eternabond for repairs on the road in 2010 to a pop-up great stuff.

Me too. I have the tape (2 and 4 inch) and I plan on sealing the roof seams front and back! One of the many to do things on my list that is ever growing!!

When talking to Ed at Trailmanor about our Elkmont's leaks, he said the factory had switched from silicone sealant to one of the 3M Hybrid Polyurethane Sealants, 3M 760 I think.

But that's for industrial use. For RV/marine use 3M 4200 is available and is probably the best choice. Or 3M 5200 if you never want to remove it (more bonding power).

After the factory repairs and resealing with the new stuff, we have never had a roof leak. But I keep a small tube of 3M 4200 around just in case.

Default Eternabond

I used Eterna Bond on the center seams, 4inch. Removed the plastic strip and cleaned with acetone. Not a problem since. Used 4200 along the top and side edge seams.

After all this I had some minor drips near the entrance door. Found out they were coming from the corner joints on top of the outside frame on power vent. Sealed the corners and TM is dry again.

Here is a question for those who have worked on the seam down the middle of the roof. I have wondered if you might dent the roof when you climb on it to access the middle. Afer all, it is just foam with an aluminum skin. So, did you put something down on the roof to lie or kneel on? If so, what?

I am 6' tall and weigh 215 lbs. I climb through the front shell and onto the rear to sweep leaves or to dry it down before closing! I do this every time we break camp and to this day the original strip and seal is fine! If you are capable of getting up there it makes latching the rear shell a snap! Those stirrups are a pain to me! LOL
