Default A question about how much to tighten lugnuts on Aluminum Rims

We just bought new tires and Aluminum Rims for the TM. Do we tighten the lug nuts the same as for standard rims? We will install them either tomorrow or Thursday.

We bought Good Year Enduros E rated tires with metal valve stems and had them balanced.

They are 225/75 15 E rated tires.

On page 11 it says tighten to 90 pounds...do you think it would be the same for aluminum rims?

We do have an impact wrench.

We replaced the tires on the TM July 2017 I will update when I have time to get the specs

What's new...we went to all LED lighting and love them.

New 3/25/16 two new horizontal propane tanks.

Depends on the rim & lugnut shape. Think the spec for aluminum rims is usually 100 lb-ft.

Don't use just an impact wrench. They can put out A LOT of torque! Mine can put out 800ft-lbs of torque. You could snap the stud off, or if you had a flat you'd never get the lug nuts off by hand. Use a torque wrench or at least a torque stick on the impact wrench.

Etrailer has a chart for the different size studs and wheel combinations. Here is a link: https://www.etrailer.com/question-117462.html

OK more detail, most Dexter 3500 axles use a 5x4.5 pattern with 1/2" lugs. I usually run mine down with a gun then use a click wrench, 95 lb-ft is a happy psychic, for the final tighten.

When I bought my trailer some gorilla with a big gun had gotten 12mm nuts on my 1/2" lugs. Broke three getting the nuts off and replaced all.
