Smile Furniture

Any sources for new or updated furniture (couches/chairs) to upgrade an older TM?

I think someone on the forum has an idea where the TM furniture is made? Does anyone have the exact measurements on the chair so I don’t buy a chair and it don’t fit and can’t close the shells, that would not be good at all.

We are getting prepared for long trips and the chair is a necessity, even if it is used that would be just fine, my wife is a sewer and can fix it up or recover it. It seems these chairs are like GOLD

I got my mud flaps installed yesterday, they came out good. The brakes and bearings have been replaced, new tires, new battery, new i-phone 4S, so we can be connected, plus our lap-top.

This chair is driving me NUTS

Thanks All for all the information that this forum provides.

I have a chair in storage that came out of a 1004 TM. I am in WA state if you are interested. It is blue.

Default chair

Nice job on the chair measurements Barb&Tim. When we get back to the fish camp I'll post some measurements and pics for the new one we just put in the TM, bought it for the other camper and couldn't get it through the door. What we bought is a Lane recliner. For proper storage when towing it had to be turned 90 degrees from the way the TM chair is placed.

Default new chair for scrubjaysnest

Here are several pics of the Lane recliner in place. Over all this chair is bigger than the factory and weighs about 30% more

Height is 39 inches, this is the most critical as the picture with the rear shell closed shows. We think putting a sheet over the chair is going to be needed.

This chair was purchased for the other camper but wouldn't fit thru the door.

ScrubJaysNest -

Looks like you have everything under control. But let me add a couple comments for anyone else who may be considering the same.

First, the original TM chair has no wheels on the back legs. This reduces the seatback height to where it needs to be. It also makes it a little more difficult to horse the chair around when opening and closing, of course, but keeps it from rolling around in transit. I often thought about cutting down the back legs and putting small wheels on the stubs, but never got motivated.

Second, if something (like the chair) won't fit through the door, you can often get it inside by opening the front shell but leaving the slideout or the front bed pushed in. Then you can maneuver the object over the tongue, over the propane tanks, over the front bed or couch, and down onto the floor. This might also work over the rear bed, though you would then have to maneuver the object over the collapsed bathroom and the kitchen. I'm not sure offhand whether the front approach or rear apporach provides more clearance.

Just some thoughts ...

Bill

Bill:
Good tip you gave. Going to have to remember that when work on the TM calls in the Spring.
