Default North Carolina Campgrounds

We're finally getting our new 2720 Trailmanor next week. Yeah! I've been reading posts on this board for awhile now but thought I would actually join up and post now that we're going to be owners.

Anyhow, does anyone have any recommendations on campgrounds in North Carolina? This will be out first Trailmanor camping experience so I would like it to be a good one!

Thanks,
Sherry

Hi Sherry and welcome to the brand new world of TM... since this will be your first of many adventurous trips, it's always wise to stay close on the first trip and get your feet wet with your new home on the road... I see by your forum information that you live in south carolina... you might want to visit Paris Mountain State Park http://www.southcarolinaparks.com/pa...2/camping.aspx ... since this park is setup to handle RV's, it's a great place to get started... then before you know it... we will see ya at the TM rally's... We have a Dixie Chapter Rally coming up in April in Jacksonville Fl ... the weather is always great in florida, this time of year and then you can meet more TM's... we will have lots of Rv stories to share around the campfire, so check out your calendar... hope to see ya there...

If you're in going to be in the far west of NC you have to see Smokemont in the Great Smoky Mountains. It is just out of Cherokee, NC. There are no hookups. Just rustic camping in a very pristine wilderness. They have nice restrooms and very roomy campsites. It also has a beautiful stream running through it.

If you are staying in western NC, then another choice would be Grandfather Mountain Campground. Very near Grandfather Mtn and wonderful touring to Valle Crusis, Blowing Rock, Boone.

It's about 75-80 miles from Asheville. Have never stayed there but most CGs in the area are pretty. From Asheville, get on I-40 E like you're going to Black Mtn. and Marion. Get off on 226/221 and follow that up through Linville. Takes you right to Grandfather Mtn.

It's been a number of years, but I loved the Davidson River campground near Brevard.

Also very nice is Mount Pisgah on the parkway.

Enjoy the NC mountains, "the goodliest land under the cope of heaven".

Davidson River is great! I grew up camping there (I even broke my arm there when as a boy I thought I could beat a car across the street on my bike - the car won!). I take my kids there now and we love it!
