Default ProFlex RV

http://www.geocelusa.com/component/v....html?Itemid=0

I'm planning on using ProFlex RV to caulk a few external areas that need attention. Anybody have any pro's and/or con's using this specific product on their Trailmanor? Can't find much info on the forum for this product.

Thanks.

I don't remember anyone using that product. Most I think use 3M 4200 or the marine version 5200.

The RV stores in my area usually stock primarily ProFlex RV, Dicor self-leveling lap sealant, and Dyco C-10.

The RV salesman recommend ProFlex RV for the sides and Dicor for the roof, but I decided to try ProFlex RV for all areas. He didn't seam too familiar with Trailmanors and had never heard of using a polyurethane caulk such as 3M 4200.

The contents of ProFlex RV are Tetrachloroethylene, Thermoplastic rubber, Plasticizer; and Thermoplastic Elasformer. Here are the tech data and the product specs:

Hmm. I just use 100% white silicon caulk. The kind you buy in the hardware store. I've never had any issues with it.

I avoid silicone caulks, primary reason; once you use them they are a bitch to clean off and nothing else will stick. I use polyurethane based. My go to is NP-1 or Vulkem/Trempro 635. It can be removed with a bit of heat, mechanical means and cleans up with mineral spirits.

This weekend, I finally got around to replacing some loose caulking in few areas on my TM with ProFlex RV. I removed the old caulk and cleaned the surface area with mineral spirits. I applied the ProFlex RV caulk and tooled it with my fingertip dipped in mineral spirits.

The product applies like caulk but is sticky and harder to work with that silicone caulk. Using mineral spirits is mandatory to form and shape the caulk so it doesn't stick to the tooling device and produce a poor, rippled finish. The product appears to cover and adhere to all surfaces extremely well and its white color is a close match to the TM's shade of white.

I've noticed that my TM doesn't have any caulk applied at this seam that I have outlined in red in the attached photo. Is that normal? This is no caulk on this seam on both shells on both sides of the TM.

Mine had a very thin bead there that pulled out with little resistance. I put a new bead along all those sections.

Here is a picture of the center trim piece on the roof. The left side of the trim shows the old caulk; right side of the trim shows the ProFlex RV
