Default Potential Owner Question about Storing Outside

Hello,

This is my first post here. I am interested in finding a used 2720. It would be stored on a sloped driveway with the tongue down.

Reading through the posts this may not be good for TM given how the two modules seal with the front one on top of the other one.

Thanks for your advice.

Any reason you would not level it on your sloped driveway using any number of approaches?

I would want water to flow away from the bag seal.

When we set up the TM we always have the tongue a little higher so water runs towards the back. It may not be a problem to store tongue low because you end of with a double seal between the front and rear shell but I personally wouldn't want to chance a problem.

Thanks

It isn't super steep maybe 6% or so. I could jack up the font but I think it would look pretty tacky that way the back end hitting the ground and the front in the air.

What is the best type of cover to use? Live in the NW so rains a lot here.

I have a custom made Calmark cover. They seem to get the best reviews from owners. Fits my TM perfectly.

I was going to suggest covering it, anyway, to negate any chance of seal leakage. I use a large tarp from Harbor Freight. They have grommets, so it is easy to tie down.

While I contemplated getting a custom cover, I saw many people say they last about 4 years in intense sun (we are in Colorado). My cheap tarps last two years, and are much less expensive than a custom cover. So, for my tightwad ways, the tarp from Harbor Freight does great.

Mine lives in the grotto and the thickest silver HF tarp shows no wear after a year. Is mostly to keep the tree droppings off.

I once had one of the thickest silver tarps from HF covering a small sailboat in my driveway (Los Angeles). It littered the inside of the boat with silver confetti within 1 year.

I have a 2003 2720 on a lesser slope. I cover it when it is down and have not had leak issues when it is up with some light to moderate rain. The silicon on the vent seals, and UV vent deterioration has been the only problem leak points for me.

I chock it, jack it as high at the tongue jack will go, lower the front levelers, then the rear, and while it is not exactly level, it seems to work.

I use an ADCO cover that has to be replaced every 2 years or so depending on wind damage mainly, lasts longer if it is only UV damage.
