The shells are the the ends of the TM that open up-and-out. They have torsion bars that assist in the lift. If they are properly adjusted, it should be very easy to open the ends. If they are out of adjustment, you will grunt and huff getting the shells open.

if they are older than 5 years, plan on replacing them the first time you tow it for any distance.

A reasonable list, but very few owners will have the proper electrical connection to run the air conditioning at home, and trying to run it without a 30A connection could cause problems. Same issue with electric hot water. Mine used to show 12-14A on the Surge Guard.

We run our AC all the time on a 20 AMP circuit at home. Now it close to the limit. If my air compressor in the garage kicks on the breaker trips, but the freezer in the garage is on the same circuit and always running. I think the AC pulls around 16 amps.

So you might want to turn the 120V to the fridge off before starting the AC

Yes, but most here would have to run a lengthy extension cord which factors in to how many of the 20-16 amps at the starter capacitor. A dedicated circuit would be helpful...

I had a 30 amp box put outside where I use to plug in my Fifth Wheel. This made it easy to work on and clean. If someone came over they had the rv to sleep in.
