Default 1999 Hot Water Heater

How do you light the water heater on a 1999 2330 Trailmanor?

Your water heater may be like ours, if it's gas only. The earlier TM's had gas only hot water heaters, and ours is 3 gallons vs 6 gallons on the newer TM's. You have to light it from outside using a lighter. Take off the outside cover and then turn the red knob to where it says "pilot". You have to push down the red button and put a lighter underneath the burner at the same time while you hold down the red button. Keep pushing down on the red button until the pilot stays lit (this may take a while). When the pilot stays lit, you can then turn the knob to "on". Stand back and don't put your face right near it because you will hear a loud "whoosh" and it will come on suddenly.

Sometimes we have to turn ours a little past "pilot" to get it to light; but we keep our faces out of the way.

If you can't figure it out I'll take a picture of where you need to put the lighter and post it. It's behind a small metal shield to the right of the red button and knob and you'll see a tube running along towards it.

Step #1......make sure that your water heater is full of water. If you light a dry water heater, you can burn it up.

Run the hot water from your galley faucet until it stops spurting air. The first time, it may take a while for water to come out as the water heater fills. Then the water will come out in spurts then a steady stream. The steady stream means the water heater is full of water.
