Default Bag Seal Replacement?

Just purchased a 2009 3124. The picture shows the seal along the roof joint. The camper was stored outside for many years and the outer seal has deteriorated. Is there an outer seal or does this point to the whole seal needing to be replaced? The trailer showed no signs of any leakage and the seal looks good internally.

The seal is referred to as a bag seal. There's 3 sections, one on the top and on each side of the shells. Look thru the tech library and search bag seal, and you'll find lots of good info. Its not easy, but not that hard.

As mine started to go bad, I just bought some RV roof sealant in a gallon container and soaked the bag seal to "cover" it and kept going. Less work than replacing at the moment. It's been that way for a few years.

Interesting, Lars. What product did you use? It's stuck on there well?

That picture appears like you may have bigger problems than a bad seal. It could just be the way the picture was taken.

It appears that your rear roof still has the proper "Arch" in the roof. The picture looks like your front roof may have lost it's arch. If that's the case, you may have to replace the wood in the rear part of the roof, to regain that arch. Often times, when the bag seal is that bad, the wood rots and must be replaced anyway. If the arch is too far gone, even replacing the wood won't help.

Was this trailer stored outside in snow country? If so, snow weight may have permanently damaged that roof.

Good observation, Wayne. But, while one side of the front shell appears to leave a significant gap with the rear shell, the other side (driver's side) appears to have no to little gap. So maybe the curb side just wasn't latched for the photo, or perhaps the shells just need adjustment. I've not personally seen a a flattened roof, but I would expect the gaps on both sides to be bigger than normal due to the sagging center line.

Just a thought.
