Default living in Elkmont

I am living in my Elkmont for the winter in Cape Canaveral. It is the Bunk House and works great.I stay in a mobile home park. This is my fourth Trailmanor. It does not tow as good as the fold up type.

Default We're Not Experts, but...

..does your passenger van have sufficient towing capacity for your Elkmont? Did you use a WDH w/both trailers? We have some towing experts on the Forum who may chime in here.

We can't tell the difference between towing our former 3326 and our Elkmont 26 other than about 1.5 mpg less. The 26 is lighter than the 3326 which was right at the tow limit of our '97 Suburban.

On the plus side, we have noticed an advantage with the Elkmont going down the steep CA hills we have here. Because of the added wind resistance, we use much less braking and downshifting.

Default van E350

The van is rated at 7400lb and I do not use a WDH. The MPG towing the 2720LS was14 - 15. Towing the Elkmont it is 10 - 12.You can not tell the trailer is there. The van is a 12 passenger but I have taken the 250lb seats out. It has a computer to tell how it runs and how you drive.I use extra mirors to see around the trailer.I use a 6 inch hitch extenion to make tight turns.

You may want to try WDH. When I moved from my 3326 to my Puma Unleashed, I had the WDH not adjusted properly. The WDH was taking too much weight off the front wheels which made the truck handle a little squirrelly in the rain.

Once I got it adjusted correctly handling was much better, but never as good as the TM3326.

Merry Christmas...

You say yours is a Bunk House. Is it one with a couch with a air mattress? There were a very few made. With a couch it makes going full time easy.

Default Wdh

My van does not go down when the trailer is hitched up. the van is a one ton with the hitch near the van wheels. It was off rental with 15000 miles and cost $13500. This makes gas cheap. It drives great. It is great for tall men (6ft 5 in).
