Default Roof Top Air Conditioner Cover Removal

Has anyone tried to remove the cover off the roof top mounted A/C? The screws appear to have a splined socket head. Do these exist? I got mixed results with a google search and none of the pictures appeared to match what I'm looking for. The question is:

What kinda of screws are they, and what kind of a screw driver do I need?

Just in case you want to know why I would want to remove this cover. Since bringing our TM home (stored in the garage), we've found that our garage has 2 or 3 wasps floating around in it every day. I've swated, sprayed, stepped on, and ran from about a dozen of these critters in the last week... today was the first day without an incident. I suspect my visitors are/were in the A/C. ... and I just want to get to the bottom of this before we take our TM out this weekend.

The dealer says its a #2 philips. It is not.

Or, does anyone know the life expectancy of a wasp?

I haven't taken my cover off, but your description of the fastener head sounds like Torx. Most any good hardware store, or Sears or WalMart, will have Torx screwdrivers, in several sizes.

For a pic, try http://www.wihatools.com/715serie.htm - you can see a semi-closeup of the tip of a Torx driver, along with a head-on outline of the "splined socket" you describe.

At your place I'd say very short.

If you find the nest, soak it with wasp spray and do not remove the nest. The wasps will not build back on or near a sprayed nest.
