Red Light on Roof
Our 2008 3023 is parked in our driveway. The roof is in the open, or up, position.
As I stood in my kitchen and looked out the window at the rear end of the trailer, I spotted a little red light glowing on the rear edge of the front section of the roof. It is near the driver's side of the trailer. It is a small light like some cars have on their dash to indicate that the alarm system is activated.
Can anyone tell me what the purpose of this light is? Is it alerting me to some condition? Should I be concerned?
Tom

This is talked about frequently, It is for your powered radio antenna & the light is normally on so nothing to worry about. Some have rewired it to the antenna wire on the radio which isn't that hard to do I left mine alone for now.

It is a parasite so I pull the 30 amp fuse at the battery b4 storage.

I do the same.
I put the fuse in while camping the first time we want to use the radio/CD. When we close up to go home, I pull the fuse, if it was even installed. It will remain out until the next time we arrive in camp.

I rewired, mainly so I can use the radio with the bathroom walls down, if I'm working on the TM at home. I plan to add a switch for the radio as well, to remove that parasite. On the newer TMs, the fuse for the radio also handles the refrigerator, so pulling that is not an option.

Mine controls all the 12V stuff in the TM. Fridge fan, fridge, lights etc. So it goes in whenever we start getting ready to go and pull it after the trip.

When I first encountered the problem of the power being off in the rear of the trailer when the b/r is folded down, I came up with a very low tech solution. I poked around in the garage and found a short length of 1" angle iron that was heavy enough to depress the button/switch. I just lay that on the button if I need the lights.
Now I have another question. Why is the light there at all? Just in case someone is walking on the roof of the trailer they will know not to touch things? A warning light to let aircraft know not to land on the roof?
Or???

It's a powered antenna, and the light just tells you that the power is on. For troubleshooting? Or perhaps this is used in other applications, and it's a reminder to shut it off (for those circumstances, naturally, not ours).

If you turn it off UFO's will be unable to locate your TM.
Sorry just needed a little humor.
