Default Anybody putting off making reservations due to the Coronavirus?

We already made reservations for Yellowstone in August, don't know if we will be able to go, if we do go, it will be a full two week trip. Tried to make reservations for Seacliff in September, only two spaces available and both got gobbled up immediately. I'm totally stressing out at work and want to go camping, but almost everything around here is closed (California campgrounds and parks are all closed right now). All of the beach parking lots are closed. It's insane, the beaches and parks we go to don't have many people visiting them at any one time, and there are no social gatherings going on there. Ugh.

Default Camping

We are fortunate that Texas has only closed a few parks. We camped last weekend and are going this weekend for 4 days. They have closed the offices and you have to print out your passes at home but that’s fine. We did Yellowstone about 4 years ago for 2 weeks and loved it! I just don’t understand the states closing their parks. This is the time we all need a place to go and it’s so easy to maintain the social distancing. Hang in there and we will all come through this much stronger!

We're supposed to go to Disneyland. We already bought the tickets in early February before this whole thing went, well, viral. I just hope that Disneyland will at least let us use the tickets for next summer if we are unable to go this year.

Here's another version of the reservations problem.

Every year for many years, my wife and I have driven (with TM in tow) from Maine to Arizona in the fall to enjoy the Arizona winter. And then we have driven from Arizona to Maine in the spring, to enjoy the coast of Maine and avoid Arizona's summer heat. We have always spent about three weeks making the trip in each direction, taking in the wonderful sights across all 48 lower states.

Right now, we are in Arizona. We should be leaving in a month, but with all the hotels, parks, and campgrounds closed, I'm not sure we will be able to do it. But our "reservation" in Arizona is about to expire, and our "reservation" in Maine may have to be cancelled. We hope not to get stranded in AZ this summer, and we don't want to miss life on the coast of Maine. But I guess there are worse things.

Still hoping for a reprieve. But like all of you, we understand the reservation problems.

It seems that the spammers are having the same problem. With no place to go, they are filling their time by trying to spam the Forum. Already this morning, four have been killed off. We'll see what the rest of the day brings!

We made a bunch of reservations for apr, may, june July, and september. Now the parks are closed for the near future. Not sure what to do.

Once the virus hit we figured our reservations would be okay. Not over concerned about the risk of the virus camping and keep our activities to hiking and kayaking. We figured we would take the MH and our biggest risk is checking in. We would not need to use the restroom at all. Our risk points would be check in at the front office, connecting services, dumping, and any stops we made while traveling.

It's weird, I tried to make reservations at Arroyo Seco (outside of Greenfield off Hwy 1) about a month ago for May and there were campsites available, but nothing would go through. I got so frustrated that I decided that it wasn't meant to be and gave up.

Now I just checked the campground status and it's "temporarily closed".

Go figure...

We have reservations in May for a state park in East Texas. I hope we will be able to go.

I'm going to use the time to do major deferred maintenance on the camper. After it rains on Saturday, I'm going to pull it out of the garage and install my homebrew airconditioner drip pan and replace the kitchen sink faucet.

The only problem I see is that usually every project requires 3 trips to Home Depot and I don't want to do that! Hopefully I have everything I need.

Default I have a couple of 'recreation.gov' sites planned for July and August...

One of them was is super-rare and hard to get: A big trailer site in Tuolumne Meadows. The other is for a nearby Forest Service Campground, very high up (9300 feet) for August, when I'll be tired of the unrelenting heat down in Reno.
I will not be surprised if both are cancelled by NPS and the Forest Service, with a refund back to me.

If the formal campgrounds are cancelled, maybe I'll do a couple of isolated "at large" BLM and FS outings instead. Nevada has a lot of isolated, undeveloped public lands.
