stirrup latches: black vs white

Having problems with the center (stirrup) latches (black) on my 1997 2720 I decided to replace them. I ordered a complete set of four but the ones sent (white and wider) I can't get to work. Has anyone tried to replace their old latches with the newer wider ones or was I just sent the wrong ones. Of course the parts at TM is closed now but if the older style latch isn't being supported by TM any alternative sources out there besides the ever so popular bondage strap route?

We replaced one on our 1997 2720 and it works fine...

I wonder if you are trying to put the wrong one(s) on? It may be that each "arm" has a specific part.
