Default Question On Installing TM Lift Kit

Hello Again Folks,

I just purchased a lift kit for my 2008, 2720 TM since I am upgrading to 15" wheels and I need the additional clearance provided by the TM lift kit.

I will be installing the kit myself and wondered if there is any procedure necessary to assure that the axle assembly will line up square with the TM frame? I notice there is some play in the bolt holes of the lift kit. This could allow the axle to become somewhat cocked on the TM frame. Is there any procedure to square up the axle to the frame or am I being too precise?

Thanks for the help,

Phil Friess

The 2008 came with the newer axle, which is effectively a lift kit. We installed 15" wheels on ours without issue. Just took the 14s off and put the 15s on. I really think you should get some competent advice before you tackle this job...it might not be necessary.

Phil,
When I had a boat trailer axle that wasn't straight I measured from the center of the tongue coupler to where the axle attached to the frame on each side. I used the front edge of the axle. Jacked up the frame and moved the side that was to far back forward. I think there was thread on the forums about doing that? Something similar may work for you using before and after measurements.

Thumbs up No Lift Kit Needed

My 2619 has done well by just changing to 15" tires & wheels!

IMO, I would recommend measuring both sides of any axle from a common point any time an axle has been loosened or removed. I would not rely on visual alone. Keeps tire wear and bearing stress to a minimum.
