I towed a motorcycle trailer for a couple of weeks many hears ago. When backing, it starts to jack knife quickly. If it did not have any motorcycles on it then I could not see it until it was too late. So I had someone stand on it when backing up empty.
Short trailers will react quicker. But long trailers are difficult in tight turns of campgrounds. At one of my favorite campgrounds, it is not possible to back any trailer into most of the sites if it is longer than 20 feet because the trees are in the way.
So, backing up in a large parking lot, longer is better. Backing up in the tight confines of a campground, maybe shorter has an advantage.
