Default Video of beautiful places in Colorado - where?

A friend forwarded this link to me - aerial photography of beautiful places in Colorado. My wife and I have seen some of these places, but after 20 years of TMing, we can't be sure where they are. We are thinking of planning another extended trip through CO and Utah, and as part of the planning, I hope that some of you Colorado residents and visitors can name some of these places. Tag them by the time clock in the video - for example

01:28 - Suspension bridge over Royal Gorge west of Cañon City

Any takers?

What a fun task!

0:22 highway 550 a little south of Ouray - there is discussion on this forum about not doing that section (Silverton-Ouray) with a Trailmanor. We just got back from a trip there and based out of Ridgway State Park for sight-seeing north of Silverton. We followed the alternate route near Telluride described by RockyMtnRay from that thread: https://www.trailmanorowners.com/for...hlight=ridgway

0:43 Falls of Bear Creek along the same highway above, there is a little overlook with platform at the falls.

1:14 I think is Devils Head Fire Lookout near Colorado Springs

1:20 Island lake in Ice Lakes Basin, hike off of a dirt road off of Highway 550 between Silverton and Ouray.

Thank you! I want more! I feel like I've seen many of these places, but not in Colorado.

The turquoise lakes at 0:35 (and later) immediately made me think of Lake Louise and Moraine Lake in Alberta. The rock formations at 3:50 and at 4:17 made me think of The Mittens in Monument Valley, AZ. The suspension bridge at 1:27 fooled me into thinking Marble Canyon, AZ, though a little thought shows that the similarity is not very close. At 4:35, that has got to be The Flatirons behind Boulder. The arches around 2:15 look like Utah - I wasn't aware Colorado had arches.

Somewhere in here has got to be the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, and Long's Peak - but I don't recognize them. And the little village at about 1:05 - can that be Estes Park?

The US west is incredible. And this is just Colorado. Parts of Arizona, almost all of Utah, Wyoming, Montana - they are all perfect places for a TM. Each of us should find a time to visit at least some of it. It is one of the reasons to own a TM.

You're right, Black Canyon is in there (or very close, since I don't think drone's are allowed there). I'll be curious to see where some of those waterfalls are, and there is a turquoise lake below treeline that I didn't recognize but would love to visit.

2:29 Bridal Veil falls near Telluride

5:06 At or near Black Canyon of the Gunnison

1:49 More of Ice Lakes Basin

1:06-1:10 is Silverton from the west. The road heading east is 550. I recognize the old 440 yard running track. I had to get a minor repair done at a shop inside the "U" that the highway makes at the south end of town. I struck a conversation with a young mechanic who had run for the local high school. (I'm a retired track coach.)

I know that 2:07-2:27 & 3:50-4:18 are at Colorado National Monument as I was the campground host there for three summers ('08-'10) and made many trips thru it.

Bill - Thanks for posting this. It brought back many fond memories. I'd planned to be in that area at this time (after fully retiring) but we all know how things have been turned upside down and inside out this year.

Don’t hesitate driving the million dollar highway (Ouray to Silverton) during the summer months. It’s a beautiful drive and travelled by many trailers much larger than a Trailmanor. I’ve personally pulled my TM on the million dollar highway many times (most recently 9/2020). BTW, the Ouray KOA is great!

Good point point about many RV's driving it every day.

Besides my relative newness at towing, we were also swayed in our decision by arriving from the southwest and driving a Tacoma that does not let us zoom up anything steep, plus we have to work even harder to keep it from zooming down anything steep

I thought this description made a great point "Thousands of rigs use 550 all the time. Two identical rigs going up to Silverton: One driver terrified, fingers tightly wrapped around the steering wheel, beads of sweat on their forehead. The other driver relaxed, talking back and forth, enjoying the scenery, maybe sipping on a mug of coffee while cautiously working through all the tight turns and drop offs. Same rig. Same road. Different drivers."

Shamelessly copied from someone called 'more to see' on rv.net.
