Wiring

a couple questions.

1) I took my battery out to charge it and I didn't pay good enough attention to the wires. I"ve got a solid copper wire. I assume it's a ground (-) but want to make sure.

2) I'm looking at putting in a AGM battery. From all the reading I've done on them they don't need venting. My present battery location is vented. I'd like to put another battery in the TM. Can I set one up anywhere and have a switch for it to go from one to another battery?

I just checked my information I wrote when I disconnected my battery for the season. The wire with the fused portion is the positive post. I made sure I made notes of the things I did when winterizing, memory is best left to the pencil and paper for me. Sorry I can't recomend how to wire up two batteries.

2) You can add a second battery and use a switch to go from one to the other. Probably a good idea if one is different from the other.

I'm curious:

Where is the battery in the 2720?
Where are you planning to put the second one?

2720 battery is external to the TM and sits pn the "A" frame just forward of the TM box.

Generally, a 2nd battery is in parallel to the 1st. While a AGM would be my 2nd choice for a replacement battery (I'd rather have a set of the big Trojan 6 volters) I don't believe you should mix and match them with the Deep Cycle you have now. IMO A switch would probably be a necessity to separate them. I, personally don't want to mess with a switch. I'd rather have them in parallel and monitor the battery condition myself.

You can also get 6 volt AGMs.

They are probably the most neglect resistent batteries you can get.

Just beware, I think they are at the top of the Amps/$$$ scale.

Thanks guys. The battery on my 2720, it's an older one, is under the bench seat on the starboard side of the TM. On one side is the water tank and on the other side is what appears to be a furnace vent.

I would love to do the 2 6Vs. Just gotta see where I could put them.

It sounds like you have a "regular" 2720 vs. a 2720SL. We have a 2720, and have two 6V Trojans that sit on the tongue, on the front of the trailer, in a double battery box. There is a battery tray/shelf mounted under the "V" that the tongue forms and the batteries sit between the "V" steel frame components, behind the propane tanks. You should have plenty of room there for the batteries and a box. If you'd like I could post a picture.
