shower hose connector leak

This weekend I tried my shower hose to charge my toilet. It leaked too much around the connector that screwed to the tub fixture. Should I just use some plumbers tape on the threads on the tub connector part or get a new shower hose? Has anyone else had that problem?

What would you suggest?

Can you tell whether the problem is a broken hose, a dislodged hose, or a loose/broken connector?

Best bet is to unscrew the connector, ensure that the hose is whole and fully seated in the connector, and use a little teflon tape when you put it back.

The connector didn't look broken and the threads didn't look stripped. I unscrewed the hose connector and screwed it back on several times thinking I had not seated it well. But each time the water spewed out around where the hose connector met with the threaded part fastened to the tub. I'm sure I had it on tight enough. Just didn't seal good at all.

Do most people use plumbers teflon tape at this connector to keep it from leaking? I'll try that, but just want to know if that's normal.

You didn't lose your little black gasket that's supposed to be in there did ya? Just curious.......

No, I believe I remember a black gasket in the shower hose connector. I'll check to make sure it's not twisted. Maybe I should replace that one first before I try the teflon tape.

I would suspect that the tub fixture is cracked. no amount of tape or a new gasket would fix that. The tub fixture would have to be replaced.
