Question Mattress Topper

Does anyone have one of these? I'm looking at the 1.5" foam mattress topper and want to make sure I'll still be able to leave it on the bed when folding down the camper. Will that work? I know I saw a thread about this, but I can't seem to find it.

Wendy,

I installed a 1 3/4 inch memory foam topper and absolutely love it. It is much better than my bed in the house now.... I dream about that thing. I took a nap on it Saturday and slept so long I couldn't believe it and had to keep checking where the hour went.

Your question is 'will the top go down'.

Short answer: sort of.

Long answer: I have flannel sheets below and above with a thin blanket over that. The top shell goes down grudgingly. I have to indent the memory foam with the overhead lights and it is hard to get the latches closed. The latches are open by about 1/2 inch with no weight on the top. I need someone to slip the latch in place while I pull the top down. I learned a memory foam trick last time out: hold the top down with body weight for maybe 10 or 15 seconds. The mem foam gives and holds its position briefly while you reach down and slip the latch into place.

I have to remove a thick comfortor and fold it. That goes under the dinette in my 3326 or could be used to protect something in transit.

Last time out, I noted that the TM mattress cover has a zipper. So it is possible to replace that inner foam with memory foam. I am thinking about that option, but I don't want to defeat the memory foam advantage with a cover that is too stiff or too tight. This would make it possible to have a Travasak up there while on the road. Same question pops up with this: don't defeat the effect with the thicker cover between me and the foam!

Love that stuff!

I hope you do too.

Bob

PS. DW accepts it but isn't nearly as thrilled as I am with it. Daughter in law loves it and has no back pain with it. Son says it is too hot. So apparently it doesn't affect everyone the same way.

PPS. Check out www.overstock.com. Mine was $63 and a Posturpedic.

I have the 1.5" foam topper on each bed in my 3023 plus a Travasak and am able to close my TM with no problem.

Frenchy!

Thanks for the input. Is yours memory foam and if so, does the Travasak improve or defeat the support you get from the mattress? I have been looking for this answer.

Also, it appears that space for the mattress may differ on different models. Mine is an '04 3326 King.

'97 - 2720 & '02 - 2720SL: I used a 2 inch foam topper and quilted mattress pad. The top closed with them and the blankets on the bed.
'03 - 2720SL: I can't close the top with anything more than a sheet on the bed. I now use a Travasak.

I have memory foam. I feel like the Travasak improves the support. My 3023 is a 1998 model, that may make a difference in the closing ability.
