Default Switching Microwave to Stove/Oven

Would anyone know what it would take to replace the microwave for the Stove/Oven? We're looking at a used TM, but would like the oven instead of the microwave as we will probably not have electrical hookup most of the time. Any ideas on what it would take and what costs would be involved to remove the microwave and replace it with the oven?

If you are handy, it shouldn't be hard to do. You would have to remove the microwave, remove the old support structure and possibly rebuild it, bring in a gas line from a new tee under the TM (if it is not already in place), and drop in the oven/stovetop. Actually, I'm not sure there is any support structure at all. If I recall correctly, the stovetop part of the assembly is wider than the oven part. It overlaps the edges of the opening in the counter, and the whole thing simply hangs there, with the weight carried by the counter. Then a few screws go into the front of the oven, attaching it to the cabinet structure, so it can't slide forward.

The oven-stovetop may be expensive if you buy it new.

Thanks Bill. I'm in the market for a used TM and saw one with a microwave in place of the oven. We certainly don't want a microwave as they take so much power and we'd prefer not to be teathered to an outlet. Sounds like it might be too expensive to switch out for a stove/oven combo.

Too expensive? I don't know about that, especially in context of buying a used TM. If you find a good deal on one with a microwave, you may be able to pay for 5 stove/oven combos to replace the microwave instead of waiting for a TM with an oven already installed.

We're not talking major bucks.....just $350.

So if you can save at least that much on the one you're looking at, go for it! You can even attempt to negotiate that into the price, or into the unit itself if you are buying from a dealer.

Thanks so much for the link. Good to know that it's doable and the price seems reasonable. Will keep this in mind when looking as it seems like a good option. Really appreciate the response. Thanks!
